António Padeiro

António Padeiro

A cuisine of a regional and conventual nature; a classic of the region, founded in 1938.

The António Padeiro restaurant, in Alcobaça, began in 1938 as a simple tavern, where it was common to bake bread. It still retains the features of a typical Portuguese house from the 50s/60s, with several televisions and other old equipment, which take us back to those times. The food follows suit, being traditional and homemade. The chicken and the partridge in the pucara are two of the most emblematic dishes of the house and also of the region, but the roasted octopus with sweet potatoes, the bread soup (with cod and shrimp) and the kid in the oven are alternatives to consider. This after a platter of starters, hearty and full of regional flavors. For dessert, the conventual sweets are the highlights: muggles from Alcobaça, golden soup, nun bellies, noblemen and many more, not to mention the neighbor of the Monastery of Santa Maria de Alcobaça.
